Our Story
Via 313 was born from a simple craving: brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt missed the thick-crust, cheese-edge pizza they grew up eating in Detroit, Michigan — and Austin had nothing like it.
In 2011, armed with family recipes, a trailer, and an unyielding passion for authentic via 313 pizza, they set up shop at a local bar on South Lamar. What started as a pop-up quickly became a phenomenon. Lines stretched around the block. Austinites who had never heard of Detroit-style pizza were suddenly devoted fans.
"We just wanted to make the pizza we grew up eating. We never expected Austin to fall in love with it the same way we did."
The name "313" is Detroit's area code — a tribute to the city that gave the world Motown, muscle cars, and this legendary square pizza. Every pie we make at via313 is a love letter to that heritage: thick focaccia-style dough, Wisconsin brick cheese melted to a crispy caramelized edge, and house-made sauces ladled on top.
Today, Via 313 operates from our home base on E 6th Street in Austin, TX, serving the same recipes that started it all — just with a permanent address, a full kitchen, and a team that cares deeply about every single pizza we make.

Our Journey
Brothers Brandon and Zane Hunt launch a pizza trailer at a South Lamar bar. The response is immediate — Austinites fall hard for Detroit-style square pizza. Lines stretch to the street on opening night.
After two years of trailer success, via313 opens its first brick-and-mortar location. The move allows the team to scale up production, refine the menu, and bring on new talent from Austin's culinary scene.
Demand drives expansion. Via 313 opens a second Austin location, bringing the via 313 pizza experience to a new corner of the city. The signature square pies and caramelized cheese edges win over a whole new neighborhood.
Via313 earns multiple "Best Pizza in Austin" awards from local publications and food critics. National food media takes notice, featuring the restaurant in major outlets as a must-visit destination for pizza lovers.
Via 313 relocates to its current flagship location at 1802 E 6th St, Austin. The new space features an expanded kitchen, dining room, and an open prep area where guests can watch their pizzas being made fresh.
